Stenay’s Beer Museum

When choosing which small towns to visit, there are a few priorities to take into consideration; availability of grocery stores, nearby hike/bike paths, and availability of wifi all top that list.  The village of Stenay has one thing going for it that really caught our attention, the Beer Museum!  This was of course in addition to a fabulous pontoon with electric, water, and showers (wifi was not working when I tried); and since we did not need any groceries it was time to bring on the brews! IMG_1942IMG_1921Brian and I both understand the process of brewing beer, we’ve made several batches of our own, but we’d never seen some of the beginning phases of the equipment that is used.  The Beer Museum had a lovely collection on display; boiling basins, cooling systems, hydrometers, and bottling machines just to name a few.  IMG_1922IMG_1923IMG_1926IMG_1925Although the tools have improved, and ingredients such as spices have been added, the brewing process has remained basically the same. And the best part, sampling the final product!IMG_1940 IMG_1941
