Brian and I arrived right on schedule at Stavanger, Norway and docked Detour at our pre-planned space along the inside wall at Borevika. We’d corresponded with the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) Port Captain in Stavanger; he’d provided excellent directions and we knew exactly what to expect at Borevika, “…where all the OCC’ers dock.” Brian and I got acclimated to the town and checked some overdue chores off our checklist, including five loads of laundry! Eoin, the OCC Port Captain, came aboard that evening to welcome us to Stavanger. Eoin’s company was a pleasure! He provided a wealth of information about Stavanger, Norway, and of course swapped several sailor stories.Detour was prepared; freshly laundered bed linens, plush towels laid out at the ready, stocked fridge and cupboards. Brian and I took the Kolumbus local bus to the Stavanger airport where our first guests of the summer were due to arrive. We perused Norway tourist guides to get some additional tips for our loosely planned itinerary (sailing vacations are always loosely planned since our movements revolve around the weather). Within the hour, we welcomed Bruce and Kathy to Norway!
